The energy transition presents municipalities with major strategic, organizational, and societal challenges – but at the same time, it also opens up new opportunities for local value creation, participation, and climate protection. Electricity generation, heat supply, and mobility are increasingly being conceived, planned, and implemented in a decentralized manner. But how can a successful energy transition be achieved at the municipal level in concrete terms?

The event begins with practical presentations that will illuminate, among other things, different municipal perspectives from Duisburg, the Bitburg-Land district, and the Steinfurt district. The speakers will demonstrate how strategic frameworks, concrete plans, and collaborations are structured and what role administration, politics, and citizens play in these processes.

The insights gained will then be explored in greater depth during a panel discussion. Under the guiding principle of "What do municipalities need for the successful and efficient implementation of the energy transition?", participants will discuss key questions regarding know-how, participation, planning, benefits, and challenges – with the aim of learning from each other and taking away concrete approaches for their own municipal practice.
