Skills Shortage As the Biggest Hurdle to the Energy Transition – Challenges, Initiatives and Concepts

As a result of the shortage of skilled workers, the energy sector is currently threatened by a massive bottleneck, which poses a risk to the entire energy transition and will become even worse without appropriate measures. After all, over 70% of the current workforce will retire by 2035.

Tradespeople, engineers and IT experts are urgently needed, particularly for the areas of grid expansion and renewable energies. Paul Endres, Head of Green Business at Hays, and Lars Janßen, Account Director Utilities, will demonstrate the creative ways in which successful companies attract and retain young talent. And how the successful further qualification of employees for new fields of activity can be achieved.
