Municipal Resilience: How Can We Achieve a Crisis-Resilient Energy Supply?
Authorities
Grid Security
Electricity Supply
Heat Supply
The attack on Berlin’s power grid in early 2026 highlighted just how quickly and extensively critical energy infrastructure can be disrupted.. In addition to physical sabotage, extreme weather events, cyberattacks, supply dependencies, and technical failures also affect the energy supply.
Local communities are often the first to experience the consequences. Under the banner of “resilience,” municipalities, local administrations and municipal utilities - already responsible for a wide range of essential services - are working to prepare for an increasing variety of disruption scenarios. However, viewing resilience merely as yet another task on municipalities’ long to-do list would be an oversimplification.
Resilience can and must become an integral part of municipal energy planning - because it is built long before a crisis occurs, not during one. How can this be achieved? Who needs to take the lead? And which initial steps can be taken quickly and effectively, even without large additional budgets?
The third day of the E-world Kick-off will address these questions. Learn which strategies have already proven effective - and what steps municipalities can take today to be better prepared for tomorrow.
