KRITIS Umbrella Act: What Does it Mean for Municipal Utilities?With the KRITIS Umbrella Act and the anticipated new KRITIS Regulation, fundamental changes are on the horizon for operators of critical infrastructure. For the energy sector, this raises important questions: What new requirements will energy suppliers, municipal utilities, grid operators, and local authorities face – and what will these changes mean in practice?In addition to physical threats such as sabotage and extreme weather events, cyberattacks, technical failures, and dependencies within supply chains are creating new challenges for the security and resilience of energy supplies. The new regulatory framework is intended to help critical infrastructure operators better prepare for such scenarios and strengthen their overall resilience.But what exactly will change under the new legal framework? What requirements will energy suppliers and operators of critical facilities face, and how can these requirements be effectively integrated into existing structures and processes?The third day of the E-world Kick-off will focus on the KRITIS Umbrella Act and the expected clarification of its requirements.
