The growing demands posed by electric mobility, the heating transition and decentralised feed-in present distribution system operators with a key challenge: how can networks be expanded efficiently, cost-effectively and in a future-proof manner? Automated, cross-voltage-level target network planning is the answer to this question. Using intelligent optimisation methods, different network expansion options are calculated and systematically evaluated for specific supply tasks. The result is a sound, transparent basis for decision-making for network operators, which demonstrates significant potential for efficiency gains in network expansion in practical applications.
